Bureau Veritas Employees Raise $38K for Local Charities

Buffalo, NY -- June 17, 2005 - The employees of Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BVCPS) presented checks to four local charities at a ceremony on Friday, June 17. The monies were raised solely by BVCPS employees in the Amherst office, through fund-raising events including raffles, bake sales, Friday Jeans Days and auctions of donated items. The four not-for-profits selected by the employees as recipients of the charitable contributions are: Friends of Night People, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Niagara Frontier Hospice Foundation, and Hospice Foundation of Western New York. The checks were presented at a ceremony being held at BVCPS located at 100 Northpointe Parkway in Amherst, at 10:00 am on June 17.

BVCPS has a long tradition of supporting the local community. Working together as a team to give back to the community has become an important part of the corporate culture. Each year employees vote and select local charities to be the recipients of their fund-raising efforts. A committee of approximately 12 employees meet throughout the year to coordinate activities. BVCPS was recently nominated for a 2004 Beta Award in the Excellence in Giving category, sponsored by Info Tech Niagara (www.infotechniagara.org).

BVCPS employees began fund raising in 1998. These efforts have significantly increased over the last seven years, starting with an ad-hoc approach that has evolved into a more formalized process with employees invited to participate at all levels. Since 1998, approximately $140,000 has been raised for local charities, including $38,000 this year. A portion of this year’s funds were donated earlier in the year to the Save the Children Tsunami Relief Fund. The remaining $33,750 will be divided among the local organizations.
