Settlements/Judgements Summary for Q1 2024

Enforcement Trends

  • Product categories with the most settlements/judgments:
    • Food and dietary supplements: 29%
    • Bags/kits/cases/totes/backpacks/pouches: 17%
  • Metals were the chemicals named in the most settlements and judgements and accounted for 49% of settlements/judgements. 130 settlements/judgments were for lead, 6 for two or more metals, 4 for mercury and
    2 for cadmium.
  • Phthalates accounted for 34% of settlements/judgements, with 77 settlements/judgements for DEHP, 7 for DINP, 4 for two or more phthalates, 3 for DIDP, and 3 for DBP.
  • PFAS Note: There were 2 settlements for PFOA. One was for cooling hats and one for seat pads.
